Unto®, the humanitarian ministry of Cru®, is providing immediate pandemic relief for families, hospital patients and healthcare workers in India and South Asia. Unto works with two nationwide hospital networks and local teams have been invited by the government to establish an 80-bed satellite COVID patient hospital in the area. Supplies will also be provided to best serve the people and fulfill the needs of healthcare facilities.
“Critical aid will be personally delivered by in-country staff members and put into the hands of hungry or struggling families or distributed to healthcare facilities, providing lifesaving assistance and creating opportunities for hope to be shared,” said Unto President and CEO Al Goff.
In the last few weeks, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached record-breaking levels in India and other areas of South Asia, resulting in widespread lockdowns to slow the spread of the virus. For people already struggling because of hunger and poverty, the mandate to stay home prevents them from working to provide for the basic needs of their families. In addition, the pandemic is quickly depleting the supplies that hospitals and clinics require to care for sick patients.
Aside from the satellite hospital, the critical supplies provided will be tailored to the specific needs of a community or medical facility and include humanitarian aid such as meals, water filters, masks, hand sanitizer, hygiene items, and medical supplies for healthcare facilities.
