ORLANDO, FL March 28, 2025 — Cru® is sponsoring the AdventHealth Corporate 5k this year in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to donate food boxes for Orlando families in need.
Cru, whose world headquarters is in Orlando, has sponsored the corporate 5k for 15 years at the request of Steve Douglass, Cru president from 2001-2020.
“His heart was that more people would know that we are in Orlando and that we are caring Christians, involved in our community,” said Lorraine Hardaway, Cru’s corporate 5K team captain. “We have been sponsors ever since and have seen God work in people's lives and the gospel presented because of it.”
The May 8 race is exclusively for Florida’s corporate, business, and non-profit organizations. It typically attracts more than 18,000 runners and walkers from more than 700 companies.
Proceeds from the corporate 5k benefit the Track Shack Youth Foundation, which promotes health and fitness by funding youth athletics and sports programs through a grant application process.
“Second Harvest Food Bank has been the main charity that the race sponsors, as well as the Track Shack Youth Foundation,” Hardaway said. “Helping feed folks in need and helping children be more active and healthy are just amazing causes we get to be a part of.”
Since becoming sponsors, Cru’s leadership has led the race’s invocation each year and continues to have hundreds of staff participate in the race and as volunteers.
“We have seen many staff have opportunities to share their faith and meet people they might not have met in the very diverse crowds that gather at the corporate 5k,” Hardaway said. “I always have the feeling that God must be smiling as He sees His children around that lake in Downtown Orlando, showing up to show God's love and compassion for our city.”
